Hypnosis for Fertility

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

Your beliefs about becoming pregnant can affect your ability to actually become pregnant.  Some parents have unresolved grief or guilt that can affect their ability to conceive and/or carry a baby to term. Hypnosis for fertility is simply a way of assisting a person to clear the path between the mind and the body.

Have you ever heard of the couple who wanted a child so badly but they could not conceive so they adopted, and then the new mother became pregnant?  How did this happen?  The pressure is off?  It certainly is not uncommon advice to hear from friends and relatives when you are attempting to conceive “to just relax.”  It’s sound advice but unfortunately it doesn’t quite work like that.  If people could “just relax” on command I am fairly certain that as a psychologist I would be out of a job.

We, as the higher thinking, evolved humans, tend to get in the way of ourselves with our thoughts and our emotions.  The mind-body connection is so powerful that our thoughts and beliefs do affect our bodies.  Every thought creates a chemical change in our body.  If we give a compliment to someone we, ourselves, tend to feel good.  On the flip side, if we comment to a friend about how ugly Susie’s sweater is, it creates a negative feeling within.

Likewise, your beliefs about becoming pregnant can affect your ability to actually become pregnant.  Some women have unresolved grief or guilt over a decision they made to terminate a pregnancy.  Some couples, either the man and/or the woman, are still grieving a miscarriage or the death of a child.  Perhaps you have heard stories about infertility and now you have become overly concerned about your own abilities to conceive.  These types of thoughts and more can affect one’s ability to conceive and/or carry a baby term.

I know of someone whom I met after she had her children.  She was inquiring about my use of hypnosis and she told me that she always believed that she would have difficulty getting pregnant, even before attempting.  Not surprising to me, she did have difficulty conceiving.  So, she and her husband went down the medical path for fertility.  Being a petite woman the doctor agreed to implant only two fertilized embryos.  The ultrasound after the successful implementation revealed three babies!  A simple enough explanation was offered: one of the embryos had split so she would have a set of identical twins and one other child.  It was absolutely clear, especially now that the children are 6 years old, that there are no identical twins. She has a boy and two girls who look nothing alike.  She truly believed she could not get pregnant so she and her husband did not use any contraception.  The doctor determined that she must have already been pregnant at the time of the implantation of the two fertilized eggs.  The pressure was off!

Hypnosis for fertility is simply a way of assisting a person to clear the path between the mind and the body.  Pessimistic, negative thoughts get in the way of conception and they need to be addressed in order to move forward for a happy, healthy conception and pregnancy.  Hypnosis does this by bypassing the conscious mind and accessing the subconscious to determine the road blocks if they are not readily apparent.  Once these are discovered, they can be addressed with hypnosis, thus moving forward to create fertility, to maintain a pregnancy and/or to assist with the success of IVF treatments.  In essence, the purpose of the hypnosis is to remove the pressures, realized and unrealized, so the couple can just relax.
